Karen Postellon Robbins, BSJ, of Montclair Va., has written her second novel, now available on Kindle. “PMS: The Power & Money Sisters,” published by MuseItUp Publishing in Quebec, follows the careers and love lives of five determined women as they strive for success in northern Virginia in 1998. After graduation, Thomas L. Collinvitti, BSEE, Thomas E. Welch, BSEE and Roger K. Young, BSEE, headed west to St. Louis, Mo. to pursue their careers with job offers from McDonnell Douglas Corporation (now Boeing). Now, they have all recently retired from Boeing after almost four decades of continuous service with the aerospace and defense company.
Sam Easterling, BS, MS ’83, professor and head of the Charles Edward Via Jr. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, has been reappointed the Montague Betts Professor of Structural Steel Design. Easterling is a leading researcher in composite floor systems and his work has had a positive impact on numerous national design codes.
Paul D. Mayle, PhD, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, was named a 2016-17 Fulbright Scholar in Hungary by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. A history professor for 41 years at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Mount Vernon, Ohio, Mayle will be teaching and conducting research at the University of Debrecen. Mayle was a Fulbright- Hays Scholar in India in 1988. He is the author of “Eureka Summit: Agreement in Principle and the Big Three at Tehran, 1943” (University of Delaware Press, 1987) and contributor to The Oxford Companion of International Relations (Oxford University Press, 2014).
E. Kay Fuller, BSJ, JD ’90, Martinsburg, W.Va., who is director of business development at Martin & Seibert LC, spoke at the CLM 2016 Claims College School of Extra Contractual Claims this fall. Since joining the firm in 1990, Fuller has concentrated her practice on the defense of insurers in coverage and extra-contractual litigation through trial and appeal. … Lisa Hall, MS, an organization development specialist at NASA, received an Exceptional Public Achievement Medal from the agency at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
Nina Roesner, MA, has co-authored a book, “With All Due Respect: 40 Days to a More Fulfilling Relationship with Your Teens and Tweens” published by Nelson Books for moms navigating the murky waters of parenting this age group. Roesner also runs Greater Impact Ministries and Daughters of Sarah, a women’s ministry.
Reggie Belcher, BS, of Columbia, S.C., a shareholder of Turner Padget Graham & Laney P.A., has been included in the Human Resource Executive list of 40 “up and comers” on the annual ranking of the nation’s “most powerful employment attorneys” for the fifth year in a row.

John Hoffman, BA, has been promoted to associate vice president in the Fairfax, Va., office of Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm. He has 21 years of experience working with contracts for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Flood Insurance Program.
Christopher Mann, BS, of Princeton, N.J., started a new role with WME | IMG out of New York after 11-plus years at Genesco Sports Enterprises, the last nine of those supporting Campbell’s Chunky Soups activate their NFL investment. Mann will be leading an account team with the focus on eSports as senior account director of Global Partnerships, Strategy and Activation. … John Walko, BA, Abington, Pa., was named to the 2016 Pennsylvania Rising Stars list in the area of state, local and municipal. Caraline Griffith, MS ’15, married L. Travis Nichols on June 11, 2016. Griffith, of Marysville, Ohio, worked at the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection as a permit engineer from April 2015-April 2016 and is currently working as a mechanical engineer for the Ohio Department of Highways in Columbus, Ohio.
Chelsea Kuhn, BS ’13, MS ’15, and Zachary Beucher, BSBA ’13, celebrated their wedding at St. John University Parish in Morgantown with a reception at Lakeview Golf Resort & Spa on Aug. 22, 2015. They recently had their first son in Morgantown in January 2015, and decided to move to Florida. Paige Schurlknight, BA, 2008, Vass, N.C., is engaged to be married to Gregory Antill, BS ’10, on Oct. 7, 2016 in Kitty Hawk, N.C. They met and fell in love at WVU in 2007. Antill played football for the Mountaineers from 2007-09. They currently live in Southern Pines, N.C., near Fort Bragg where Greg is stationed in the U.S. Army.

Domenick “Mickey” Furfari, BSJ ’48, who covered Mountaineer sports for seven decades, died July 11, 2016, in Morgantown, W.Va. He was 92. Furfari covered WVU football, basketball and baseball and was considered the dean of WVU sportswriters. During his career, he worked for newspapers in Charleston, Huntington and Morgantown, and after his retirement in 1989 he wrote a column that was published throughout West Virginia. Furfari was inducted into the West Virginia University Sports Hall of Fame in 2006, the Basketball Writers of America Hall of Fame in 2011, and he was honored as a Distinguished West Virginian by the state governor in 2009. Memorial contributions can be made to the Legends of WVU Basketball Athletic Scholarship in honor of Mickey Furfari, which is an endowment to provide undergraduate scholarships for qualified student-athletes at WVU.
