Power Your Network 

Mountaineers are across the world in pretty much every field, and they just might be across the conference table at your next meeting. One easy way to find out is to network with fellow alumni on LinkedIn and follow West Virginia University.


Kenneth Van Meter, BS, Cumming, Ga., is now a client partner in the natural resources and chemicals sector for Capgemini America. His areas of focus include cloud computing, digital manufacturing, big data and artificial intelligence. He and his wife Beth have five children and six grandchildren.


Robert Kittle, BS, La Jolla, Calif., is a journalist who spent more than two decades as editorial page editor of the San Diego Union Tribune. Kittle has authored “Franciscan Frontiersmen: How Three Adventurers Charted the West.”


Brenda Moore, BS, Oak Hill, W.Va., has been named third vice president of National Garden Clubs, the largest volunteer gardening organization in the world. In this role, Moore will support and promote Plant America, an initiative that focuses on gardening with an emphasis on community service.


James Christina, BA, Cockeysville, Md., became executive director/ CEO of the American Podiatric Medical Association.


Kevin Wood, MS, Fairfax, Va., has been promoted to vice president of the Fairfax office of Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm. As a water and wastewater engineer with more than 33 years of experience, Wood is responsible for overall project delivery for water services projects throughout the mid-Atlantic region.


George Schuller Jr., BS, South Brisbane, Australia, was named president of Peabody Energy Australia. Schuller will have executive responsibility for Peabody’s Australia operating platform, which includes overseeing the areas of health and safety, operations, sales and marketing, product delivery and support functions.


Johnathan Holifield, BA, Cleveland, Ohio, is a former Mountaineer football captain who recently authored, “The Future Economy and Inclusive Competitiveness: How Demographic Trends and Innovation Can Create Economic Prosperity for All Americans.”


Jennifer Manton, BS, New York City, N.Y., has been selected by the Legal Marketing Association for induction into the LMA 2017 Hall of Fame. Manton is chief marketing and business development officer for New York law firm Kramer Levin Naftalis and Frankel. … David Thomas, PhD, Wheeling, W.Va., retired after 31 years at West Liberty University. He began teaching there in 1985 and served two years as interim chair of the Department of Humanities. He taught mostly American literature, freshman composition, creative writing and poetry. Students voted him West Liberty’s Professor of the Year four times.


The Rev. Greg Bolt, MS, Red Wing, Minn., and his wife, the Rev. Heidi Bolt, have been called to serve as designated co-pastors at First Presbyterian Church in Red Wing.


John F. Walko, BS, Philadelphia, Pa., is a lawyer with Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell and Lupin. He was named to the 2017 Pennsylvania Rising Stars list.


David G. Lorenzi, EdD, is associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Heath and Sport Science at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he directs the Special Needs Activity Program. He was appointed as executive director of the Phi Epsilon Kappa fraternity and editor of the Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Journal.


Kasey Johnson, BS, Orlando, Fla., is a family wellness chiropractor who’s launched a podcast called “The Unlock Wellness Podcast,” in which she interviews health experts including WVU alumni. Her podcast is among the Top 100 Podcasts for Alternative Health on iTunes.


William Bane, EMBA, Panama City, Fla., became vice president of internal audit for Tydall Federal Credit Union. He also became a licensed certified public accountant in Florida.


Danny Young, MBA, Florence, S.C., purchased the Extreme Çheer and Tumble franchise after four years of supporting his daughter in the sport at the organization.
